Problems come in pair. I read this sentence some time ago, somewhere... and it proved to be true..... Last week I got depressed on my role as a mother and a couple of days later the summer touristic season came to an end and DH stopped working. When he started, at the middle of March, the plan was to work there for a few years, he worked hard to improve the hotel's restaurant, they went from a 2 course menu to a 4 course menu, salad buffet, huge selection of cakes (homemade) and marmalade (homemade too), breakfast buffet sweet and also savory. Even extending and enriching the menus Dh managed to economize a good 20%. That is what he was asked to do when he was offered the job, that's what he did. He has 40 years experience, he got the skill and he knows how to meet the goal.
But the owner is a 76 years old lady who fears changes, new things and thinks improvements are a bad thing. Even if her 50 years old son was in charge and was in unison with Dh, who would never ever do anything without approval, she somehow made up her son's mind, or maybe she forced him, and they decided to not hire him next March.... We heard voices about her being unpredictable, senile and dullard but we believed she had not the full control. We were wrong.... The son is just a figurehead. My other thought is that they believe to be able to keep the restaurant reached quality and efficiency hiring as a chef the sous-chef, saving on the chef's salary.... If that's the case, they're going to have a bad surprise 'cause the sous-chef himself admitted not to be up to the situation.
The picture now looks like this: we need a new job (not easy) and a new flat ( not found yet). In this order: first the job to pay the new rent flat.
I guess all my boo boo crying take on a whole new perspective now.....

Sad to hear about your husband's job. Sounds like working for the woman would have been terrible if she is so set in her ways and cheap. I wish you the best of luck in your search for a new home and your husband a new job. Oh, and thank you for the quick page.
